Method
Every fact on MK7HQ comes from a named source, linked from the page it appears on. Sources are ranked in this order:
- Volkswagen's own documents: press packs, price lists, technical specifications, self-study programmes (VW training manuals) and technical service bulletins.
- Official records: the UK DVSA recall data and the US NHTSA recall and manufacturer-communication database, which publishes VW's bulletins.
- Real diagnostic scans of MK7 Golfs posted on the Ross-Tech forum, for module addresses and part numbers.
- Specialist sources: parts suppliers, tuners' installation guides, coding references and owners' forums, used where VW material is not public.
- Wikipedia, only as a last resort, and always marked as unverified.
Text is written in our own words. Nothing is copied from forums or suppliers.

Limits
Torque settings, coding values and retrofit steps are published for information. Confirm them against the official VW workshop information for your car's VIN before you rely on them. Part numbers change with supersessions, left- and right-hand drive and factory options, so check them in the parts catalogue against the VIN.
Physical module locations are mostly documented for left-hand-drive cars. Right-hand-drive locations are marked where they are known.
Some systems need Volkswagen's online services: component protection release, immobiliser adaptation, software version management and feature activation. Only a VW dealer or an approved specialist can do those.
